If you are studying at a university, your tutor has probably asked you to write an academic essay this semester. But the life at universities is quite hectic, busy and fast these days. Nobody has time. Nobody wants to listen to you. Nobody wants to help. Plus they tell you “hey my friend you have to learn how to be independent”. Well…that’s fine. University life is a university life. If you do not pull up your own pants, nobody will come and help.
That’s why I decided to find and share this Essay Checklist with you so that you can check your own essay without spending any extra time to meet with your teacher. Well,… I am not saying you should not check your essay with your teacher. I am only suggesting it as an alternative if you have nobody to ask for help.
I got it from a teacher trainer from the University of Westminster about 2 or 3 years ago when we had a training. The checklist was specially designed for a subject called EAP which means English for Academic Purposes. However, I made some minor changes in it so that you can also use it if you are writing IELTS, TOEFL essays or essays of other international exams.
So please have a look and I hope you will find it useful. You should say ‘Yes’ in all sections except the Language section at the end. Say ‘No’ in Language section.
Take it away! =)
